16 years ago, the founder of YourMemories.com.au, Joan Barkley, came to a profound realisation: very few of us share our memories as we’d like to.

Back then, Joan was a funeral industry professional, so she was ideally – if unenviably – situated to witness the sad impact of this imbalance. Time and again, her clients were unable to supply the words and memorabilia required to truly honour the memory of those loved and lost.

In an effort to assist, Joan began composing public notices for deaths and funerals on behalf of her clients. As a matter of course, this led her to writing a book to help families compose tributes in times of grief, then on to the creation of a range of elegant mounted Your Memories cards. Eventually, these keepsake cards expanded to cover a variety of life’s pivotal events - including births and marriages .
